How to Enter an Invitational:
Sign up via the link provided on the schedule. For USA meets, a swimmer will be entered as "NT" (no time) if he/she hasn't swam the event in a USA meet.

Entry fees are stated in meet info packets and should be paid for before the sign up deadline. Please make checks payable to Kyle Almoney, cash is ok too. Sorry, no refunds if your child cannot attend the meet after entries have been sent in.

Meet Explanations:
(color coded on schedule)

Central Penn Aquatic League Meets (Dual meets highlighted in yellow)
CPAL Dual Meet:
Age is determined by age on 12/1 of the current season for all CPAL meets. Our team competes against another team in our division. Coaches make the lineup for these meets, and put swimmers where they will help the team the most. Please note: Swimmers must compete in at least 3 dual meets to swim at Divisionals. Attendance is required at these meets unless advance written notice is given (preferably at least 3 days, as lineups take a lot of work!) Unless the coaches hear otherwise, swimmers are entered. Remember, it's a team effort, and no person or race is insignificant! All swimmers, from beginners to HS, should at the very least compete in these meets.

CPAL Divisionals: All teams in our division (3A) compete in an invitational-style meet. Each swimmer may compete in 3 events, as long as they have competed in at least 3 dual meets. Swimmers are expected to attend this meet if they meet the requirements.

CPAL All Stars:
All 4 divisional meets' results are compiled once the meets have concluded, and the top 16 in individual events and top 8 in relays advance to the All Star meet. It is possible to place 1st in divisionals and not make All Stars, it's all about the time! Because of the nature of this meet, the coaches must know before the Divisional meet if swimmers can't attend the All Star meet, should they make it. It is an honor to compete in this meet, and we request that all swimmers who qualify DO go to this meet, especially those on relays as to not let down their team members. Qualifiers are posted online as promptly as possible following Divisionals, and coaches notify families as well. It's a very fun meet, and swimmers get nice awards (medals).

Other Invitationals: Meet hosted usually by a CPAL team, usually all ages and USA clubs and YMCAs, where swimmers can race many competitors from the league and times count toward the League Top 16. Optional but highly encouraged.

Mini Meet
Meet geared toward the younger swimmers, usually 9 & under or 8 & under and swim-your-own-age (6 year olds, 7 year olds, etc). Age determination varies, see entry packet. These are optional but highly encouraged because swimmers can do very well competing against their own age (and fewer swimmers usually). Kids who might not win awards as often because they are not at the top of their age group have a better chance of doing so in these meets. It is a nice way to ease newer/younger swimmers into the invitationals. *Sometimes Mini meets are included within A/BB/C meets.*

USA Swimming Meets
A/BB/C: USA Swimming meets, basically open to anyone (but usually 9 and up). Sometimes "Mini" designation is included, meaning there are 8 & under events also. See time standards below. Times count towards qualifying for JO's, Senior Champs, etc. Many different events to choose from, including distance. Age is determined by age on the first day of the meet. These are optional but highly encouraged, especially if swimmers want to compete in qualifying meets.

Elite Meet: Qualify-only meet with fast times

Senior Meet: Qualify-only meet, not divided into age groups

IMX
: a motivational program whereby swimmers will be scored and ranked nationally on their performance in a combination of five or six events. The purpose of the program is to promote versatility in age group swimming while advocating greater participation and development across a range of events that are integral to long term success in swimming. (from USA swimming website, see link for more info) IMX meets follow this format.

Time Standards
2009-2012 Age Group Motivational Times: (so what IS an "A" or "BB" time?) Time standards by age group that determine ranking and qualification in many USA meets. Winter swimmers should look at page 2. Remember, your age is what age you actually are, not the cutoff we have in the CPAL league. Download here
